About TarotTrainer

TarotTrainer is a study tool for the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, a seventy-eight-card deck designed by Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of A. E. Waite and first published by Rider & Co. in 1909. It is, more than a century on, the deck nearly every modern tarot book assumes you are reading from.

The card descriptions here are drawn verbatimfrom Waite’s own companion volume, The Pictorial Key to the Tarot, published 1910. Waite’s prose is archaic in places — this is the point. If you mean to read this deck, you may as well hear it from the man who designed it.

Both the imagery and the text entered the public domain long ago and are reproduced here without alteration.
